Serpentime shows how much time you spend in each application running on your computer. With Serpentime you can see how much time you work and how much time you spend otherwise.
Pros: Serpentime tracks applications/tasks being carried out in a machine. One could set the resolution down to a second if required. The time shown is the time you actually use the application not the time the application has been running. Serpentime is the easiest way to organize and optimize your time. Knowing how much time you spend in different programs, you can increase your productivity by optimizing the usage of different applications. For example the statistics might show that a user spends inordinately long time in a day to get through the e-mails. One can then arrive at a strategy of looking through and replying to e-mail that can save time. To help do that the application builds diagrams of application use, displays a list of application use. The interface can be localized to several languages.
The interface is simple. The display area is supported by a list of options on the left margin. These include applications, statistics and settings. The applications mode shows a straight list of applications that have been running in a given duration by displaying a list of the applications with time in hours, mins, secs it has been used in that duration. The statistics setting of display is nice and brings out the usage graphically and most vividly. It is in the form of a bar graph with one bar for one application and showing percentage use. The percentage numbers are shown on to p of the bars in real-time. The chart gets scaled in real-time too. The setting allows setting of the data you want to look at such as the application name, producer of the application, version number or all of these info together. As also language choice and if refresh should be automatic or not.
Cons: There is no corresponding display of total time in the monitoring cycle. You may have to keep track of that separately.
Overall: Nice and simple application, this is good for a 3 star rating.
